I really wanted to throw him a surprise party this year and had every intention. We were going to have it out at my parent's house. A few weeks ago my parent's house got struck by lightning and a lot of their appliances were fried, including their flat screen TV. I figured it probably wouldn't be a good idea to do a party at their house on a Saturday night in the middle of football season with NO tv. So I lolly gagged around and never got anything else planned. :-(
The week of his birthday I had a cookie bouquet sent to him at school. I think that was a surprise to him. We had talked earlier and he decided all he wanted this year was money. That way he could put all of his birthday money together and get something he really wanted. So we were under the understanding that he would be getting nothing other than money for his bday. He had a game Thursday night and I actually had bible study so I didn't really get to see him.
My mom brought him a McDonald's birthday breakfast on Friday morning (his real bday), so he got to have his fave breakfast on the way to school. He had a game Friday night and didn't get home until almost 2:00am so I didn't get to really see him on his actual birthday either. We had already planned to celebrate on Saturday knowing we weren't going to see each other much on the other days.
Saturday morning we slept in a little (big thanks to baby K for letting us), and then I fixed him a cream cheese, sausage, and crossiant casserole for breakfast. He LOVED it!! All he wanted to do was sit in his chair and watch Ohio State play at noon, so that's exactly what he did. Adrianne and I had to run some errands for a baby shower we were giving that next day, so I left Kinley with him for a little daddy-daughter time and headed out (Yes, I know football was on but he had it easy...she napped almost the whole game)!!!
After days of bugging Preston about what he wanted to do for his birthday and where he wanted to go, I FINALLY got him to decide. I felt like it was a little too much short notice to start calling everyone to meet us. So, we ended up just going with my family, his mom and stepdad, and our friends Rudy, Katie, and Adrianne. Ryan and Eli were out of town in Bridgeport.
It ended up being a nice and low key night. Well, as "low-key" as you can get with our crazy waitress. We've been going to Desperado's since Preston and I started dating 8 years ago, so we are pretty well-known in there and we have the same waitress everytime we go. We've developed a great relationship and she alwasy takes care of us. The owner has been so good to us and we have really gotten to know everyone.
Our waitress, Shawnna, made P take a Tequila shot....eh. I think he complained about his chest burning all night. (These are the only 2 pics of him I took the whole night....oops)
Kinley got to try her first ice cream....again, Shawnna insisted
She loved it, of course
Getting some time with "Granny Fran" (my Grandma). Kinley doesn't get to see her as often as my mimi so the time she gets with Granny is very special
Well, that was a sorry job of "documenting" the evening. I didn't have my big camera with me and just happened to have my little camera in Kinley's bag, so that's ALL I got.
After dinner, Rudy, Katie, and Adrianne came back to our house for a little cake. I made Preston his favorite cake for his bday, yellow cake with chocolate icing. It was my first time to ever make anything other than just a "plain" cake, so I was VERY proud of myself. Yes, it's just a cake mold but still, I've never done it before.
BIRTHDAY BOY!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY BABY!!! I hope you made a good wish. Kinley and I love you and we can't wait to celebrate many more birthday's with you.
